Gilead Sciences, Inc. [FOSTER CITY, Calif.] (NASDAQ: GILD) announced that Kevin Young has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. From 2004 through 2014, Mr. Young served as Gilead’s Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations. Since 2014, he has held the role of senior advisor to the company. Prior to Gilead, he spent more than 20 years in the biopharmaceutical industry, first with ICI Pharmaceuticals and subsequently with Amgen.
Penske Media Corporation (PMC) [LOS ANGELES] appointed George Grobar as Chief Operating Officer. Grobar most recently served as Executive Vice President. Grobar joined Penske Media in 2009 and, in addition to his new COO role, he will continue to serve as a Director on the PMC Board as well as on the Board of PMC’s joint venture in India with Zee TV. Grobar joined PMC as Chief Financial Officer and was actively involved in integrating several new acquisitions into the company, building the PMC join venture operations in India. Prior to joining PMC, Grobar spent 13 years at The Walt Disney Company, and 8 years in manufacturing and product development at Unisys Corporation. Grobar was the Senior Vice President of Disney Mobile. Before moving to Disney Mobile, George held several senior positions in Disney business units including Vice President of Disney Ecommerce, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Disney Direct Marketing and Walt Disney Art Classics, and the Director of Business Operations & Control for the Consumer Products Division Controllership.
iStar Inc. (NYSE: STAR) [NEW YORK] announced that Geoffrey G. Jervis is joining iStar as its new Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, effective June 15, 2016. Mr. Jervis will succeed David DiStaso, who has served as iStar’s CFO since 2010. Mr. DiStaso will remain available as a senior advisor through December 31, 2016 to assist the company with the transition. Mr. Jervis brings significant experience as a public company executive in the real estate sector. He most recently served as the CFO of STAG Industrial, Inc. (NYSE: STAG) and prior to that he was the CFO at Blackstone Mortgage Trust, Inc. and its predecessor Capital Trust Inc.
The Church Pension Group (CPG) [NEW YORK] announced the appointment of Francis “Frank” P. Armstrong as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). He replaces former COO Jim Morrison, who recently retired after 15 years of outstanding service to CPG. Prior to his appointment, Armstrong served as Senior Vice President, Benefits Policy, and Chief Actuary of CPG since 2011. Before CPG, he served as a Managing Principal and Practice Leader for the Eastern Region for Hewitt Associates’ Health Management Practice, where he served as lead consultant to CPG. Prior to this, he was an actuarial consultant for Buck Consultants and an actuarial associate for US Life Insurance Company.
REACH Health [ATLANTA] announced that Gary Christian has joined the senior executive team as chief operating officer. His extensive professional background includes multiple leadership roles in fast-growing companies and executive hospital management positions.
Rangeford Resources, Inc. [SOUTHLAKE, Texas] (OTCQB: RGFR) announced the appointment of Marc L. Duncan as President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Duncan previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Contango Oil and Gas and subsidiaries from 2005 until February 2014. Mr. Duncan served as President and COO for USENCO International Inc. from 2000 to 2004 and with Hunt Oil Company from 2004 to 2005. Prior experience includes positions such as a deep-water drilling engineer for ENSERCH Corp., drilling engineer for ARCO Oil and Gas and management with SEDCO. Currently, Mr. Duncan serves as the Managing Director of Four Horses, LLC and Opal Petroleum Partners, LLC. Mr. Duncan also serves as Energy Director and Advisor for Cardinals Direction First Inc., a Native American corporation, and is on the Board of Advisors for EnergyFunders.
Cynosure, Inc. [WESTFORD, Mass.] (NASDAQ: CYNO) announced that Timothy W. Baker, President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, notified the Company that he plans to retire to pursue philanthropic interests.
RagingWire Data Centers [ASHBURN, VA] announced that Joel Stone has joined RagingWire as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Most recently, Mr. Stone served as Vice President of Global Data Center Operations for CenturyLink. Prior to CenturyLink, Joel was Group Operations Director at Global Switch in London, and spent nine years at Microsoft responsible for 16 data centers in North America. Earlier in his career, Joel engineered the build-out of two state-of-the-art data centers in Silicon Valley (Santa Clara) for Cable & Wireless Communications, and held senior technical roles at a subsidiary of Sylvan Learning Systems, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
Twin Rivers Paper Company [MADAWASKA, Maine] announced the appointment of John Reichert to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Reichert has held leadership positions for several large forest products companies, including Stora Enso and mostly recently NewPage (now Verso) where he served as the Mill Manager of Stevens Point.
