Dtex Systems [SAN JOSE, Calif.] announced Bahman Mahbod as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Most recently, he was a founding member, SVP WW Engineering and Security Research and corporate officer at FireEye.
Fred’s Inc. [MEMPHIS, Tenn.] (NASDAQ: FRED) announced that Craig Barnes, Executive Vice President of Supply Chain, Global and Domestic Logistics, has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer – Front Store. Prior to joining Fred’s in 2014, Barnes held executive positions at AutoZone, CARQUEST and Delphi Automotive.
Turn-Key Health [PHILADELPHIA] announced that Cyndi Seiwert has been appointed new chief operating officer. She replaces Terri Maxwell, who was promoted to chief clinical officer. Seiwert served at Optum Palliative and Hospice Care as chief operating officer, and Covenant Care, as vice president of Operations.
Rovi Corporation [SAN CARLOS, Calif.] (NASDAQ: ROVI) announced that Pete Thompson will join the company as executive vice president and chief operating officer. At Ericsson, Mr. Thompson was senior vice president of the Mediaroom Business Group. He has also held a number of senior leadership positions at Microsoft, including corporate vice president, Microsoft Mediaroom; senior general manager, Xbox LIVE; and general manager, Microsoft Surface. Most recently, Mr. Thompson served as vice president, strategic partnerships at Sonos. Earlier in his career, he was at T-Mobile as executive director, HotSpot and he served in several roles with increasing responsibility at HP. Additionally, Mr. Thompson has Board of Director experience serving on the Boards of Sigma Designs and SeaWell Networks.
Gogo [CHICAGO] (NASDAQ: GOGO) announced that it has promoted John Wade to the role of executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer. For the past eight years, he has served as the general manager of Gogo’s business aviation division. Before joining Gogo, John served as the CTO at OnAir and also worked at Tenzing and GEC Marconi on their IFE and IFC products.
CBT Pharmaceuticals [SANTA CLARA, Calif.] announced the addition of Gavin Choy as Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Choy had previous roles at Galena Biopharma, Astex Pharmaceuticals, Otsuka, SuperGen, Hana Biosciences, and Gilead Sciences. Previously, Dr. Choy was a clinical pharmacologist at Stanford University Hospital and Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at University of California, San Francisco.
root9B Technologies [NEW YORK] (OTCQB: RTNB) announced that Dan Wachtler has been named President and Chief Operating Officer. He replaces Brian King, who is stepping down as COO. Formerly, Mr. Wachtler was President and CEO of root9B Technologies’ IPSA subsidiary.
Gelesis [BOSTON] announced the appointment of David Pass as Chief Operating Officer. Most recently, Dr. Pass served as Vice President of Marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) for Diabetes, Dr. Pass gained a broad range of commercial experience from his time with Johnson & Johnson, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc. [SAN DIEGO] (NASDAQ: HALO) has named biotech veteran Mark J. Gergen as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Gergen joins Halozyme most recently from Mirati Therapeutics, where he was executive vice president and chief operating officer. Before Mirati, he spent 7 years at Amylin Pharmaceuticals as a member of the executive committee reporting. Prior to Amylin, Gergen held senior management roles for Cardionet and Advanced Tissue Sciences, as well as Premier, and Medtronic.
Old Dominion National Bank [MCLEAN, Va.] promoted Amanda S. Tucker to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Tucker joined Old Dominion in 2014 as Chief Risk Officer. Prior to joining Old Dominion, Tucker was at Virginia banks. Until 2014, she served as senior vice president and operational risk manager for Union Bankshares Corporation. She joined Union through its acquisition of StellarOne Corporation, where she served as the director of anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud. Previously, Tucker served as vice president of compliance for Community Bank. Tucker began her banking career as an examiner with the Massachusetts Division of Banks.
iPayment Holdings, Inc. [NEW YORK] announced the appointment of Greg Cohen as COO. Mr. Cohen previously served as Co-President. Prior to joining iPayment in 2014, Mr. Cohen served as Chief Strategy & Revenue Officer for Merchant Warehouse and in the more recent past, served as General Manager and Senior Vice President for VeriFone’s Commerce Solutions group and President for the U.S. Group and Emerging Payments at Moneris Solutions. Previously, he held senior positions with Global Payments, Vital (now TSYS) Processing Services and BankServ Check Services. Early in his career, Greg founded and developed techTouch Cash. Mr. Cohen is current board President of the Electronic Transaction Association, a member of the Discover Acquirer’s Council and a former member of MasterCard’s Acquirer Forum, NACHA’s Electronic Check Council and Young Presidents’ Organization.
Valmont Industries, Inc. [OMAHA, Neb.] (NYSE: VMI) announced that its board of directors has promoted Stephen G. Kaniewski to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Valmont. Kaniewski has been Group President of Valmont’s Utility Support Structures Segment since August, 2015. Prior to that, he was the Utility group’s Senior Vice President and Managing Director. Steve joined Valmont in 2010 as Vice President-Information Technology and has held the position of Vice President-Global Operations for the Irrigation Segment.
