Columbia Banking System, Inc. [TACOMA, Wash.] (NASDAQ: COLB) announced that Clint Stein, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the company and its subsidiary, Columbia Bank. Stein joined Columbia in 2005 as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer and was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2012. Prior to Columbia, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Albina Community Bank in Portland, Oregon. Stein succeeds Hadley Robbins, who was recently named President and Chief Executive Officer.
Capital Senior Living Corporation [DALLAS] (NYSE: CSU) announced that Brett D. Lee will join the Company as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer effective August 14. Lee currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the North Texas and Dallas markets of Tenet Healthcare Corporation. Lee has previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Chief Operating Officer at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Vice President of Operations and Clinical Services at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, and Vice President of Operations at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. Lee succeeds Keith Johannessen, who passed away in December 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Spinal Elements [MARIETTA, Ga.] announced that Jason Blain has been appointed to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Blain previously served as President of Spinal Elements and was a co-founder of that organization prior to Amendia’s acquisition of Spinal Elements in April of this year. Prior to founding Spinal Elements, Jason had roles of increasing responsibility in product development, manufacturing, regulatory affairs and quality assurance with Smith & Nephew, Alphatec, and Nuvasive.
Box, Inc. [REDWOOD CITY, Calif.] (NYSE: BOX) announced that Dan Levin, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), will step down after seven years with the company, and that Stephanie Carullo will succeed Levin. Carullo began her career at IBM in Australia. After 14 years at IBM, Carullo became Managing Director for Enterprise and Government sales at Telstra. Following Telstra, Carullo moved to Cisco where she led a team in the U.S. Service Provider business. She was then promoted to the global role of Vice President, Data Center and Virtualization Sales. Following Cisco, Carullo joined Apple as Vice President of U.S. Education Sales. After leaving Apple, she briefly led Partnerships at Hampton Creek and has since been advising startups in Silicon Valley.
eCobalt Solutions Inc. [VANCOUVER] (TSX: ECS; OTCQB: ECSIF) announced the addition of Floyd D. Varley as Chief Operating Officer (“COO”). Most recently, Varley was VP of Operations for TMAC Resources. Varley also managed, as Vice President, Operations and Mine General Manager, the startup of Yukon Zinc’s remote poly-metallic underground mining operation in Canada’s Yukon Territory. He was General Manager of Morton Salt’s Fairport Ohio underground mine and mill and Chief Engineer of Morton’s Weeks Island Louisiana mine and mill.
GIBC Digital [NEW YORK] announced that it has promoted Ross Mabon to Chief Operations Officer. Prior to his promotion, Ross was the company’s EMEA Head of Automation & Process Design. Prior to joining GIBC, he was employed at UBS, where he was Head of Process Excellence for the United Kingdom and Poland.
ML Strategies [BOSTON] has announced that Brian S. Dempsey is joining as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) starting in September 2017. Dempsey has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 1991 and in his current position as House Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means for seven consecutive budget cycles. Prior to entering public service, Dempsey founded his own business as an insurance broker.
Smoothie King [NEW ORLEANS] has announced the addition of Dan Harmon as new Chief Operating Officer. Harmon brings more than 30 years of experience as an executive in the retail and restaurant industries, notably with household name brands such as McDonald’s, Blockbuster and Potbelly Sandwich Works. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Operations, Learning and Development for Papa Murphy’s International.
Vision Venture Partners [BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.] announced the appointment of Chris Nordling as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Nordling has deep corporate operations and finance experience, including leading both MGM Resorts International and Hilton Hotels. He previously served as CFO for Mirage Resorts and Bellagio as well as President of corporate entities for MGM Resorts. Prior to his two-decade tenure with MGM, he served as President for the Reno Flamingo Hilton.
Provention Bio, Inc. [LEBANON, N.J.] announced the appointment of Eleanor “Leni” Ramos to the role of Chief Operating Officer. Ramos joins Provention after most recently serving as a Chief Medical Officer of Global Blood Therapeutics (GBT). Prior to GBT, Ramos was the Chief Medical Officer of Theraclone Sciences. Before joining Theraclone Sciences, Ramos served as Chief Medical Officer at ZymoGenetics. Ramos’ career is further highlighted by executive and director-level positions at leading pharmaceutical companies including Roche Global Development and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Rego Payment Architectures, Inc. [PALM BEACH, Fla.] (OTCQB: RPMT) announced the appointment of David Knight as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and President. Knight is an experienced industry executive with nearly thirty years of experience working for Fortune 500 companies, including eBay, PayPal, Quaker Oats, PepsiCo, Gatorade and Frito Lay.
Sterling Bancorp [MONTEBELLO, N.Y.] (NYSE: STL) announced that it has named Christina M. Favilla Chief Operating Officer. Favilla comes to Sterling from GE Capital Americas, where she served as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to GE Capital, she served as President of Discover Bank and Bank of New Castle.
