RED Interactive Agency [SANTA MONICA, Calif.] announced the promotion of Derek van den Bosch to Chief Operating Officer. Van den Bosch previously held the title of VP, Operations and Delivery at RED for over 2 years. Van den Bosch spent the majority of his advertising career at TBWA\Chiat\Day as an Executive Producer for 6 years, where he was promoted to Director, Digital Production. While at TBWA\Chiat\Day, van den Bosch worked with such brands as Nissan, Infiniti, Pepsi, Gatorade and Visa among others. Prior to joining RED, van den Bosch was Vice President, Delivery at BLITZ, working with such brands as FX Networks, Microsoft, Adobe, and Naked Juice.
Ford Motor Company [DEARBORN, Mich.] announced that Barb Samardzich, vice president and chief operating officer, Ford of Europe, has elected to retire after more than 26 years. Succeeding Samardzich will be Steven Armstrong, who is named vice president and chief operating officer, Ford of Europe. Armstrong currently is president, Ford South America, a position in which he has served since January 2014.
Southern Company [ATLANTA] announced that John G. Trawick has been named senior vice president and chief operating officer for subsidiary Southern Power. Trawick was formerly senior vice president of commercial operations and planning for Southern Company Services.
PHOENIX Rehabilitation and Health Services, Inc. [BLAIRSVILLE, Pa.] announced the appointment of Peter Grabaskas, formerly Executive Vice President of Development, as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joiningPHOENIX in 2014, Grabaskas served as Chief Operating Officer for Physiotherapy Associates Inc., with previous posts as Regional VP and Area Regional VP for Benchmark Medical Inc.
KVH Industries, Inc. [MIDDLETOWN, R.I.] (NASDAQ: KVHI) announced today that Brent Bruun, currently executive vice president of mobile broadband for the company, has been promoted to the newly created position of chief operating officer (COO). Brent Bruun joined KVH in early 2008, and has served as executive vice president of the mobile broadband group. Mr. Bruun was previously senior vice president with satellite operator SES Americom, and gained strong corporate financial background from positions held with GE Capital and KPMG earlier in his career.
Silver Spring Networks, Inc. [SAN JOSE, Calif.] (NYSE: SSNI) announced the appointment of Ayse Ildeniz as Chief Operating Officer. Most recently, she served as the vice president of the New Devices Group and general manager of strategy and business development for Intel. Prior, she held a variety of leadership roles for Intel including as the regional director for Middle East, Turkey and Africa.
Learning Care Group, Inc. [NOVI, Mich.] announced that Mark R. Bierley is appointed President and Chief Operating Officer. Bierley assumes COO responsibilities from Erin Wallace, who is retiring. Mark joined Learning Care Group as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2012. Prior to joining Learning Care Group, Bierley served as CFO and Senior Vice President of The Pantry Inc. Previously, he held a variety of leadership positions at Borders Inc., including Executive Vice President, CFO and COO. His experience also encompasses roles in the financial departments at Dunham’s Sporting Goods and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
American Trucking Associations [ARLINGTON, Va.] has named Elisabeth Barna as chief operating officer and executive vice president of industry affairs. Barna most recently served as senior vice president of communications & public affairs at ATA. Prior to that she sent 8 years at the Motor Freight Carriers Association.
